Updated Trademark and Logo Usage Guidelines
HDMI Licensing has just released an updated version of the HDMI
Trademark and Logo Usage Guidelines. These Guidelines provide critical
information that will change the way HDMI-enabled products will be
marketed.
The Trademark and Logo Usage Guidelines were created to help
manufacturers more effectively market HDMI-related capabilities of
products and to create consistency and clarity for consumers who are
evaluating products for purchase. Highlights of the new Guidelines include:
Manufacturers will no longer be able to market products by version number
without also listing the specific HDMI features enabled in their product.
Manufacturers now have consistent naming conventions for HDMI-related
features.
For each of the features listed in the Guidelines document, HDMI
Licensing, LLC has defined a minimum level of functionality that the
device must deliver to the user, thus ensuring that consumers buying
these products will receive a consistent, high-quality experience. The Trademark and Logo Usage Guidelines have gone into effect October 28, 2008. Manufacturers are required to use reasonable efforts to comply with the Guidelines beginning immediately. All products shipping on October 28, 2009 or later must comply with all aspects of the new Guidelines.
Please review these guidelines carefully before you incorporate the HDMI Mark into your product or related support materials. If you have any questions concerning your use of the HDMI Mark, please contact trademark@hdmi.org.
