HDMI at CES 2009 in Las Vegas

CES Logo - January 8-11, 2008

As a result of many discussions with the worldwide Adopter community, HDMI Licensing has decided to alter its presence at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show. Instead of sponsoring the entire HDMI TechZone, we will maintain a pod on the show floor of the Las Vegas Convention Center, and participate in the HDMI TechZone as an exhibitor together with our Adopters.

When the TechZone debuted in 2006, the HDMI standard was still relatively new, and evangelism was a top priority. Today, it is the clear and unequivocal choice for high-definition, all-digital connectivity, with more than 800 Adopters worldwide and hundreds of millions of products shipped. Clearly, we have altered the CE landscape, and few, if any visitors to CES this year will need to be introduced to the HDMI standard. As the market has matured, our communication and marketing needs have become more complex, requiring us to address specific market segments as well as analyst, blog, online forum, and traditional press audiences. While CES provides the chance for many people to see the HDMI standard at work, it no longer provides the most effective venue to communicate with our increasingly sophisticated and segmented audience.

That said, we are looking forward to participating in CES 2009, along with the many exhibitors from past TechZones who will be there with us. See you in Las Vegas!

HDMI Licensing Holds Successful Developers Conference in Taiwan

Steve Venuti, President of HDMI Licensing, LLC

HDMI Licensing recently hosted the HDMI Developers Conference in Taiwan. The event was an unparalleled success. Over 500 attendees from the largest CE and PC manufacturers took part in the DevCon, which was held in conjunction with the popular IIC Conference in Taipei. Presentations from Best Buy, Silicon Image, Agilent, Tektronix, and Quantum Data were all very well-received, and generated a lot of active discussion among the conference-goers. Audience at DevCon 2008It was a great opportunity for us to share ideas with many of our Adopters in Asia. Additionally, we hosted a press event that drew more than forty regional and international journalists.

Thanks to all of you who participated! For more information on how to participate in future Developers Conferences, please contact Charlene Wan at cwan@hdmi.org
