HDMI Founders Considering Development of a High-Removal Force Latching HDMI Connector

The HDMI Founders are considering the development of a high-removal
force latching HDMI connector for inclusion in the HDMI Specification.
HDMI Licensing, LLC ("HDMI LLC") is asking any Adopters interested in
submitting a design for such latching mechanism to do so no later then
March 15, 2005. The proposed design should be backwards compatible
with existing HDMI connectors, but, when used with the matching
connector, should require significantly more force to remove, unless the
user enables the latch release.

Following the submission of proposals, the HDMI technical team and
technology contributors will review the proposals, and if the technical
team chooses an Adopter's proposal, then the submitter will enter into
an agreement to grant HDMI LLC and the HDMI Founders a royalty free
license to incorporate the proposal in the HDMI Specification. In
return for this license, HDMI LLC will waive the HDMI Annual Fee for the
chosen Adopter for one year.

Proposals should be submitted to admin@hdmi.org. HDMI LLC and the HDMI
Founders reserve the right to not choose any proposals and to modify any
such proposal. HDMI LLC and the HDMI shall have no liability with
respect to any proposal.
